01/05/2012 - Elektronite's D2K Arcade for Intellivision
Elektronite's D2K Arcade for Intellivision

Elektronite and Classic Game Publishers are pleased to present the ONLY official home version of the arcade game D2K Jumpman Returns available from www.jeffsromhack.com

D2K Arcade is probably the most impressive Intellivision cartridge ever produced for the Mattel Intellivision video game system.

D2K Arcade features 9 different playing screens

BARRELS …DK's tantrum has crushed and warped five levels of girders, turning them into a nightmare of ramps and rolling barrels! Jump for your life or grab a hammer and start smashing!

PIE FACTORY …Treacherous conveyors, leaping flames, and "pies" that look almost good enough to eat… but don't be fooled! These trays of cement are massively dangerous!

ELEVATORS …Two fast-moving columns of elevators and some nasty fireballs await you. Take the easy way out but be wary of the springs.

RIVETS …Your only chance to reunite yourself with your loved one! Dismantle the structure by pulling out the support rivets and give the big ape a concussion he won't soon forget!

TWISTED GIRDERS …DK has "twisted" five more levels of girders! Barrels bounce high and come at you from both directions while flames rain down on you from above!

THE MIXER …A mixer tops off empty "pie" plates while full ones twirl down from the sky! Master the timing of the stopping conveyor or risk an embarrassing tumble into a tray full of cement!

THE REFINERY …Oil, gas, and an array of safety valves… this level has "danger" written all over it! Outwit DK by putting out fires at the top of both towers… before the timer runs out!

TRIPLE ELEVATORS… Three elevator columns separate you from narrow structures guarded by merciless fireballs! Span treacherous gaps while dodging a barrage of madly bouncing springs!

THE ELIMINATOR …Only appearing on level 3, this is DK's final attempt to "eliminate" you. Don't be afraid of the blue fire… it won't hurt you - unlike everything else!

The Video game Critic gave D2K Arcade an A+ review and said "D2K Arcade must be seen to be believed. This dream-of-a-homebrew is a must-have for all classic gaming enthusiasts."

Brett Weiss gave D2K a 5 out of 5 review and said 'Yes, That's right Colecovision and NES owners, your versions of the game....now take a back seat to this classy new cartridge...."

Classic Game Room said "D2K looks, plays and sounds great. I'm really impressed with the kind of quality they can squeeze out of an Intellivision cartridge!"

D2K Arcade is available Complete in box for $68 US plus shipping and handling. The package comes complete with a Mattel Electronics style 'gatefold' box, overlays, full colour manual in a brand new Intellivison cartridge shell with a beautiful colour sticker.

01/04/2013 - Game Stick Reaches Kickstarter Funding Goal in Only 30 Hours

The Most Portable TV Games Console Confirms Support of XBMC And DLNA

GameStick Change Pledge Tiers to offer Developers Even More

London & San Francisco; January 4th, 2013; The team behind the GameStick raised a glass yesterday evening in thanks to the 1000+ Kickstarter backers that pushed them over their $100,000 funding goal in just 30 hours.

“The response from the Kickstarter community has been truly overwhelming. We are confident in our product and what we hope it will mean for gaming but we were taken aback at how quickly the message was adopted,” says Anthony Johnson, CMO, PlayJam.“There is no better feeling than having hundreds if not thousands of people endorse your idea.”

The team has been busy keeping up with the hundreds of questions and requests that continue to come through the Kickstarter message boards and in response have today announced support for XBMC & DNLA, two of the most sought after features.

“While we are shipping as a dedicated games console, we are keen to ensure that users have the ability to hack the device if they so wish and will be providing support for XBMC & DNLA via an optional firmware update in September. We encourage users to hack the device - the time for closed, proprietary systems is ending which bodes well for true innovation”, concluded Johnson.

GameStick is described as 'The Most Portable TV games Console Ever Created'. The team behind the project are passionate about accelerating the race to change the face of big screen gaming with a product that will now, as promised, launch in April of this Year.

Supporters flooded to the Kickstarter page just moments after the campaign launched and began pledging. The 'Early Bird' pledge tier, giving  backers the chance to grab themselves a GameStick at a discounted rate, proved so popular that it sold out in a matter of hours resulting in people moving in droves to the next tier. At the time of writing, the average pledge towards GameStick was $98.

Interest from the developer community has been extremely strong with over 300 registrations on the
www.gamestick.tv website and a new tier offering early access to the SDK and 30 days premium positioning within the games store having been added for $500.

GameStick will feature a purpose-built game store through which users will be able to browse and download content. The proposition will be powered by PlayJam’s existing Games Network for Smart TV which currently supports developers such as Relentless Software, First Star Software, and Disney.

01/02/2013 - Gamestick Smallest Portable Game Console Stars Kickstarter Campaign

Portable Games Console To Bring Affordable Gaming Directly To Your TV Screen

London & San Francisco;January 2nd, 2013; PlayJam,the global platform for casual and social games on Smart TV, launched its Kickstarter campaign today in a bid to bring itsdedicated gamesconsole - GameStick - to life.

The team behind GameStick hope to accelerate the race to change the face of big screen gaming with the launch of the most portable, affordable, dedicated TV gaming device on the market priced at just $79.

GameStick is a small yet powerful, dedicated games console that plugs directly into a TV's HDMI slot and comes with a fully featured Bluetooth controller - ready to go right out of the box. When on the move, the two combine into a single unit, putting big screen gaming right into the pocket. The device will be compatible with other Bluetooth controllers enabling true multi-player functionality.

“We wanted to create a games console that helped further our overriding mission to bring affordable gaming to the big screen". Says Jasper Smith, CEO PlayJam. “Not only that, we wanted to push the boundaries of what has been achieved up to now bypacking sufficient power into the most portable of devices, enabling users to carry that experience with them wherever they go.”

The 30 day Kickstarter campaign launched today with the team at PlayJam looking to raise a minimum of $100,000 to help make GameStick a reality. Supporters of the project can get involved by pledging as little as $10.

"We are currently in a closed Beta phase of development with a working prototype that our guys are using to test some great games. Next comes the final design stage and live testing of both the controller and the games,” continues Smith. “We are fortunate to have been able to utilize our existing technology to get us to this point and have preferred manufacturers in place and an existing developer network ready to go. However, to get this project over the line and into full production, we need the support of the backers on Kickstarter."

GameStick will feature a purpose-built game store through which users will be able to browse and download content. The proposition will be powered by PlayJam’s existing Games Network for Smart TV which currently supports developers such as Relentless Software, First Star Software, and Disney.

To date, the team has been focused on bringing GameStick to its pre-production phase by finalising hardware design and integrating the back end technology to power the service. They have worked with a small beta group of developers to announce the following initial line-up.

Shadowgun and Dead Trigger

Supersecret Software

First Star

Boulder Dash XL

Hungry Shark, Grabatron and Pool Bar

Relentless Software

Quiz Climber and Blue Toad Murder Files

Sports Director MYFC Manager

Now that the project is public, the team hopes to work with all Android developers looking to get their games onto the big screen. GameStick’s Bluetooth controller uses different modes to allow the gamer to access and play 100’s of compatible games directly onto their TV.

"To date, the most accessible route to TV gaming for the consumer has been the traditional games console – this is changing. GameStick gives the thousands of Android developers out there an additional route to bring an affordable big-screen gaming experience direct to their fans. What’s more, we wanted to do this via a unique, highly portable device that will enable pure social gaming – by that we mean people sharing great experiences in the same room!” Smith concluded.

01/02/2013 AbleGamers Foundation Awards FIFA 13
AbleGamers Foundation Names FIFA 13 the 2012 Mainstream Accessible Game of the Year

International Soccer Juggernaut Enables Gamers of All Disabilities to Join in on the Fun.

Harpers Ferry, WV –January 2, 2013– The AbleGamers Foundation is thrilled to announce EA’s international soccer sensation FIFA 13 wins the coveted AbleGamers Mainstream Accessible Game of the Year Award.  With outstanding accessibility options, FIFA 13 enables some of the most severely disabled gamers to enjoy the thrill of the “world's most popular” stadium game.

“AbleGamers was amazed by the accessibility of FIFA 13,” said Mark Barlet, President and Founder of the AbleGamers Foundation. “EA enabled gamers with severe motor and cognitive disabilities by including remappable keys, an unheard-of mouse only mode and game settings that allow the entire game to be tailored to the unique abilities of each disabled gamer.”

“We are delighted and honored by how approachable EA has been,” continued Barlet. “They really took the principles of our
game accessibility guidelinesIncludification, to heart. We are starting to see some real fruits of our labors preaching accessibility over the last decade. I'm personally thrilled to see big-name studios listening to our advocacy for the disabled community in the gaming industry.”

“There's just not enough you can say about a game like FIFA 13,” said Steve Spohn, Editor-In-Chief of AbleGamers.com and Community Outreach chair for the foundation. “Such a large portion of our community is ecstatic over the ability to play a genre of game that's mostly inaccessible due to the number of controls needed and fast-paced action. The mouse only mode is phenomenal for those with muscular dystrophy, and the ability to slow down the entire game is such a boon for the cognitively impaired.”

The AbleGamers annual award will be presented to EA at a gaming conference later this year.  Honorable mentions also went out to 2K Game’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown and indie game Colour Bind.

For the full story behind the award winner, honorable mentions and reviews of the all he nominated games, plus games that failed AbleGamers’ accessibility tests, please visit

01/02/2013 - Game Studio's Launch of Science Behind Sci Fi Panel

Studio grants public behind the scenes look at the educational side of their game’s development

York, PA – 01/02/2013 Today the ‘Science Behind the Sci-Fi’ forum was launched as part of the game reveal for Broken Crown: Escaping Titan.  A new title revealed by indie development studio, Broken Crown Games, which plans to approach the issue of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) through the use of science-fiction in video games.

Scientists Behind the Science
The forum features a four-member panel of scientists in fields related to the science-fiction found in Escaping Titan.  The panelists are:
  • Jamie Boyer, Ph.D. - Paleobotany
  • Robert Hampson, Ph.D. - Neuroscience
  • Jacob Haqq-Mirsra, Ph.D. - Astrobiology
  • Amitai Bin-Nun, Ph.D. - Astromony and Astrophysics.
These four will rotate each week, putting out a post for the first four weeks of each month.  Also, due to overwhelming response from the science community when the Broken Crown Games studio made their call for panelist submissions, the team now also plans to feature a guest’s content each month as well – for a total of 5 posts a month.

Game Sneak Preview
If you aren’t a science lover that’s OK, the Broken Crown team doesn’t expect everyone to be in order to find the forum interesting.  In order to drive attention to the STEM content, the development team plans to update all the panelist blogs with sneak previews of game – using the panel updates to show how the science in the panelists’ posts were used to create the science-fiction in Escaping Titan.  These sneak peeks will include concept art, in-game screenshots, and even gameplay footage from the in-development title.

Call For Public Participation
Broken Crown Games’ CEO, Tyler Yohe, was noted as saying, “We chose to present our panelists’ content through forums rather than blogs because so everyone can participate in generating content."  He went on to explain the they hope the public will not only read the science behind their game, but hope it will spark further discussions on the forums about other STEM topics that interests readers, such as questions or ideas about Mars and Moon colonization, even things like alien life on other planets.  They encourage novice scientists and gamers to share their ideas so they can be debated by real scientists, until maybe, just maybe, the meshing of these two communities can lead to the next big idea in science!

For those of you interested in sharing your space ideas, or just have STEM related questions, feel free to join the discussion by checking them out at:

Dragon’s Call II New Systems Added

In Last Week’s Dragon’s Call II server maitenance, two new systems are added, Colosseum and Lvl 100 Map : Frontier Of Chaos.

Colosseum, a brand-new PVE system, provides a new way for players to acquire Reputation and Honor. Players can enter Colosseum to challenge those powerful bosses once Level reaches 15. Some may be familiar with powerful bosses as fellows or enemies, however, they are now demonized by the evil Demon and are endowed with the evil power of the Demon.

Land of Chaos, on the southwest of Pandar Prairie, is full of disorder and weird creatures, which are beyond description. The enemies there are more powerful than those in Tribe Camp. Dragon Soul, also called Soul of Great Dragon, contains enormous energy according to the Tribe legend. Dragon Soul hides itself on Land of Chaos.

With the adventure proceeds, the adventurers start to fear. Their journey is interrupted by the legendary Ring Knight- Ring Wraith and Ring Escorts. Tribe Guards come back again with the appearance of new enemy “Wolfish-back Clan” and creepy Spiritism, which all leads to the place “Dragon’s Boneyard”. Those moribund dragons may have been polluted by Kagham. The whole boneyard is cursed deeply.

The Evil Dragon resurged by the vicious Spiritism has become the most powerful enemy ever. However, Golden Dragon Messenger shows up and everything becomes more confusing. That is dragon’s call! Adventurers, take weapons and step into the unknown journey to find the Resurgent Evil Dragon and eliminate it!
