05/22/2015 - Atlus Reveals New Info on Dungeon Travelers 2
Dungeon Travelers 2's Five Basic Classes Provide Rock Solid Foundation for Specialized Parties

 To Build Your Party Out Big, You Have to Start Small!

One of the key elements in Dungeon Travelers 2 is building a party around the many, MANY classes in the game. But every character starts off as one of five basic classes, which this brand new trailer covers! Here are the main five; and stick with it, because while three of them may be familiar, you try telling ME what a spieler does before watching this video.
  • Fighter: Standard melee damage dealer, has skills for basic defense as well as attacks. With high HP and strength, they can be the vanguard of the party. 
  • Magic User: The basic class can use all elemental damage-dealing spells. They can use the basic healing spell as well, making them an invaluable asset to the party. 
  • Scout: A master of speed that can attack when the enemy lets their guard down, and can also steal money. Because they can use both daggers and bows, they can change their fighting style to fit your needs. 
  • Maid: Though not good with physical attacks or magic, they can provide special support without using TP or needing casting time. The unsung hero type.
  • Spieler: This class is literally a wild card. The most powerful of the Spieler abilities are high-risk, high-reward gamles, so choose them for your party carefully! They can make a HUGE difference in battle. 
The girls are fixed in their basic classes, but when you get to the point of choosing a new intermediate or advanced class, it's still possible to put skill points into some of the basic class skills. It's always nice to have a good, low-cost healing spell around or a strong defensive guard spell. 

One other thing you might not know about Dungeon Travelers 2 is that all the characters have unique art - there's not just one generic "fighter" outfit, etc. Each has their own hand-drawn art for every class. (That's a lot of art!)

New update to PAC-MAN and PAC-MAN Lite on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch headlines birthday bash for one of gaming’s biggest icons

SAN FRANCISCO – May 20, 2015 – BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment America Inc. has kicked off a multitude of festivities to commemorate the 35th anniversary of its flagship maze-running arcade game series and mascot, PAC-MAN, which first arrived in Japan on May 22, 1980. To celebrate, the publisher is updating the mobile releases of PAC-MAN and PAC-MAN Lite with a new, classic-inspired user interface, which players can enjoy on the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

05/19/2015 - SpeedRunners Update Adds 50 New Characters
SpeedRunners update adds 50 new characters, puzzles free to play analysts
At tinyBuild, we take our user analysis very seriously. Through extensive research we have determined players need constant positive reinforcement through neuron responses. Our goal was to increase DAUs and their daily engagement factors by at least 30% to justify investment and have a positive return. 

It was obvious players weren't happy with getting negative user loops in their daily game sessions, because when you lose a ranked game in SpeedRunners you get negative points. These points decide your Rank, and determine whom you get matched against. 

After consulting with former [free to play company] analysts, we concluded we needed to introduce a completely useless, cosmetic metric that would always count up. However when the discussion went into a graph of "so you acquire 500k users, your stickiness is 2%, and your conversion rate is 5% based on an ARPPU of $0.02" I suddenly sobered up and remembered we are talking about free to play games. 

Having tried to explain how tinyBuild "doesn't acquire users", evoked confusion and awkward stares in the room. Even more so, "why _don't_ you do free to play?" someone asked, genuinely puzzled by my response. Then I remembered we make games for the fun of it, and said we "are assholes and take money in advance, then people play for free later". Waking up in cold sweat, I realized this was all a horrible nightmare, a flashback from my web game development days.
Seriously though. 

We design games that are fun, and it was a great and fun way to make SpeedRunners more interesting. The paragraphs above refer to an actual nightmare I had, and actual meetings with genuinely puzzled and confused free-to-play people. 

However, our stats did indicate (no joke), that we now have 50% more players day over day according to Steamcharts. 
A jump from 500 peak users to 750 in a day.

Introducing the Biggest Update To SpeedRunners yet, 50 new characters and an XP system!
  • Added 50 new character skins including secret characters, a bulldog detective, and more
  • A new XP system creates an unlocks experience. People now gradually unlock content.
  • SpeedRunners is now building up towards a story-driven unlocks system, where players unlock both new content, and snippets of the story through comic books
  • SpeedRunners is getting a price increase on June 1st to $15
  • Increased daily players by 50% overnight
If this is not the weirdest press release you read today, I got nothing.

Former Rockstar Games Art Director Signs BioShock Soundtrack Composer for Sci-Fi Adventure VR Experience

Industry Veteran Drew Medina has signed Composer Garry Schyman to create the original score for the sci-fi adventure VR experience "iOmoon" being produced by Drew’s studio Headtrip Games.

Headtrip Games) Award winning composer Garry Schyman (BioShock®, BioShock 2®, and BioShock Infinite®, Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor®, Destroy All Humans!® Series-Credits-) has contracted with the new indie studio Headtrip Games, founded by Drew Medina (Grand Theft Auto V®, Max Payne 3®, Tomb Raider: Legend® -Credits-), to create a one of a kind soundtrack for the virtual reality adventure experience/game, "iOmoon".

Considering Garry's last few projects were with large game studios and established technology, it is interesting he has chosen to work both in a newer gaming technology, VR, and with a start-up indie studio, Headtrip Games. So, what are Garry's feelings? "I think VR represents the future of gaming.  The technology is spectacular and is only going to get better and better. ...The team [Headtrip Games] showed me a demo of their game and I was floored!  It’s spectacular and I was hooked.  Plus they are great people who are extraordinarily talented and who wouldn’t want to work with folks like that."
