Super 7 Conquers Eternia!
-Company Reveals a New Line of Masters of the Universe Products

With all the craziness going on inside San Diego Comic Con, it's important to remember that there are a lot of things going on around the Gaslamp Quarter as well. One of these little gems is Super 7 and their store dedicated to Masters of the Universe (MOTU). Also known as Skeletor's Lair! If you know me, then you know I have a soft spot for retro toys. For several years now Super 7 has been the driving force behind the ReAction line of collectible toys. One of the biggest properties they have under their belt is the MOTU line from Mattel.

Just before Con began, it was announced that Matty Collector, Mattel's own division devoted to MOTU would be shutting down at year end and transferring full manufacturing to Super 7. This is indeed huge news. The staff from Super 7 were definitely excited about the future.

So on a bright and surprisingly breezy Saturday morning I found myself standing in front of the Super 7 store in San Diego. I was lucky to be the first person in line! I was itching to get my hands on all the cool stuff waiting inside.

The big draws this year were the exclusive She-Ra doll, first revealed at Power Con as well as the next phase in their MOTU MUSCLE figure line. There were two large box sets and one smaller set in a clear trash can, continuing the theme from Power Con. I got a thrill out of being the first one inside the store and seeing just a whole wall of the trash cans.

The other big draw was the surprise set of the four vintage styled figures based on the newly released MOTU cartoon “The Curse of the Three Terrors”. You heard me right. There is an all new MOTU cartoon and it had an exclusive screening on Wednesday night of Comic Con in the parking lot of the store. Featuring the original voice of Skeletor, this was the first new cartoon in this classic style since 1985.  As a bonus, the episode was available to purchase on a VHS tape! Talking about taking vintage to a new level. Don't worry though as it will also be available via iTunes and Google Play on August 1st.

This was also the debut of the next wave of figures in the MOTU ReAction line. This includes Man-At-Arms, Tri-klops, Trap-Jaw and the Sorceress. Let's just say that my personal collection of bad guy action figures has grown. Big thanks go the whole Super 7 team for having yet another stellar presence at Comic Con. Now if only they could make my wish of a Skeletor head carrying case a reality.
