Take a Trip Back to Skeletor's Lair!
-Super 7 Celebrates the Release of a Ton of Cool New Products.

One of my favorite retailers is Super7, the San Francisco based toy company who is responsible for the popular ReAction toy line, designer vinyl figures and a ton of other cool stuff. For the last several years at Comic Con they have really gone all out with exclusives and extras. This year might have been the most fun yet. Last year the company actually held a screening of an all new Masters of the Universe cartoon. I honestly though it would be impossible to top that moment, but I'm happy to say I was wrong.

Super7 hosted a special event on Preview Night at their offsite store with a full on pinata party. I had seen a photo of their Skeletor pinatas on Facebook before the show, but seeing them in person hanging from the ceiling was nothing short of hilarious. Each was close to three feet tall! I was also surprised to find out they were for sale. While I was really tempted to buy one, I knew it probably wouldn't survive the trip home, and if it did, my cats might have something to say about a new roommate!

In addition to the pinatas and the requisite blue and purple streamers and balloons, there was also two different beverages created exclusively for Comic Con. There was “Snake Mountain” Dew and “MYAAHHH!” Berry sodas. I only bought one of each, but they were so good I'm kicking myself for not buying a full case. There was also some exclusive MUSCLE MOTU figures in a new blue color, each one individually bagged for stuffing into the pinatas. However, my favorite little detail was the blue fortune cookies that contained Skeletor insults instead of fortunes.

As is usual, the store exclusives were the biggest draw. In addition to two different larger MUSCLE two packs in different color schemes, there was a bizarrely cool Trap Jaw action figure in the mini comic color scheme. Trap Jaw was one of my favorites back in the day so seeing him in a shockingly bright yellow and violet was a treat. Along those same lines, while not an exclusive this was the first reveal of a new action figure carrying case packaged with an exclusive MerMan action figure repainted in the mini comic colors. I didn't purchase it but I know I'll be adding it to my collection probably at Power-Con in September.

Several different new tee shirts rounded out the exclusives. I was particularly fond of the Skeletor/MadBall tee shirt mashup. There was also two display cases featuring the ReAction and MUSCLE lines in one and the newly redesigned 6' action figure line in the other.

They also had quite an impressive display at their booth inside the convention center. I got a kick out of seeing the prototypes for their upcoming Iron Maiden 'Eddie' line of figures as well as wave three in their popular Alien line.

The best aspect of this store is the staff. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. No question was left unanswered. Bottom line is, it was another great showing by Super7. I'm a big fan of their products and their designs. It was really fun to take another trip back to Skeletor's Lair! Let's hope they do this again next year.
