The Biggest and the Best Moments from Comic-Con 2019

Inevitably, in the days after Comic Con has ended, every attendee will find themselves saying at least once, 'dammit I missed that!' upon hearing about something really cool that happened. A lot of Comic Con depends on being in the right place at the right time. With that in mind, here are five of the biggest news stories to come out of San Diego Comic Con.

5) The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance: We'd seen a trailer for this upcoming NetFlix prequel series but in Hall H, we got to see more footage as well as hear from some of talents in front of and behind the cameras (or microphones, if you will.) A surprise appearance by Mark Hamill who voices one of the characters, and demonstrated as such, nearly brought the house down. On top of that, during the panel he was surprised with the annual Comic Con Icon award.

4) Batman Beyond on Blu-Ray: Fans of the beloved series can now rejoice as the animated series is getting a remastered Blu-Ray release for the first time. With a street date of October 29, 2019 the box set will come with a plethora of bonus features including an additional bonus disc featuring the animated feature Return of the Joker, also remastered for the first time.

3) The Walking Dead: Even though the comic book has just recently come to a conclusion, the show and it's spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead are still going strong for AMC. But we got a triple whammy of announcements: There's another currently untitled Walking Dead spin-off coming soon. This is Danai Gurria's (Michonne) final season on the show. And biggest news of all, the three films we were promised by AMC that would detail what happened to Rick after he left the primary series are still being made but they will be released theatrically.

2) Goodbye Supernatural: In what was a tear-jerker of a panel, perennial stalwart of the CW Supernatural hosted it's final panel as it gears up for its upcoming 15th and final season. There was the usual amount of laughs but with a tinge of sadness as cast members looked back on what the show has meant to them and what they will miss. The panel ended with someone in the audience winning Baby, the brothers Chevy Impala from the show! Now if that isn't a Comic Con exclusive, I don't know what is.

1) The Marvel panel in Hall H: It should come as no surprise to anyone that the biggest news of the Con was the first reveal of what the next phase of the Marvel MCU would consist of. While no footage was shown, we got our first introductions to the casts and directors for the next films headed our way as well as release dates. We knew we were getting a Black Widow solo film next Spring. Now we find out we will soon see The Eternals, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor: Love and Thunder. If that wasn't enough, the grand finale was the introduction of two time academy award winner Marhershala Ali as Blade!
