new hardware and tons of cool gadgets. With so many strong contenders this year it was extremely difficult for us to choose
a favorite for each category. Here is our review of E3 2013. These products are the best of the best, and at the end of this
article you'll find out who really won the 2013 E3 Expo.
Best Game By Platform: Consoles
A game must be exclusive to a single platform in order to be considered the best game for a specific platform.
Project MOJO is the new Android based console from Mad
Catz, a company well known for it's third party accessories and peripherals. The unique advantage of the Project MOJO is it's
ability to play stock Android titles. This means the console will have the largest library of any Android console on the market.
Also, anything that will run on your Android device will also run on Project MOJO. It even connects with the Android market
meaning all the games you have already purchased for your other Android devices will be playable on your Project MOJO console.
We hope to bring you more about Project MOJO in the coming months as it is tentatively scheduled for release this fall.
Best Retro Gaming Product:
The Hyperkin RetroN5 is the ultimate retro gaming console. From
the portable Super Nintendo handheld console dubbed the "SupaBoy" to their previous console, the RetroN3, the company
has a well deserved reputation for making quality classic gaming hardware. Now Hyperkin has upped the ante with the amazing
RetroN5. The system actually has 5 cartridge slots and features compatibility for up to nine different game systems, if you
count foreign variants. This includes the NES, Famicom, SNES, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Boy Color
and the Game Boy Advance.
The RetroN5 has a feature packed GUI with many gaming and A/V related options.
It also comes with a revolutionary wireless controller, and if you're a purist it even has authentic controller ports for
all the supported consoles. However the best part of this system is the price. The Hyperkin RetroN5 is expected to sell for
less than $100. Wow! That's a huge value for the money for such an amazing console. We hope to bring you more on the RetroN5
in the coming weeks.
Best Gaming Hardware:
The newly revealed PlayStation 4 console was the star of
the show. Sony has done literally everything right with their new hardware. The console has a sleek design that
embodies the Sony style we all know and love. The controller is comfortable and ergonomic. However the best part
about the PS4 is it's consumer friendly approach. There are no restrictions on game sharing, no mandatory online connection,
and best of all it's being sold at a very reasonable price. At a mere $400 gamers are getting a lot of value for their
hard earned money. The system is also extremely developer friendly, which will mean tons of game support when it is launched
and well into the bright future of this great new console. PS4 is even praised among indie developers. What more could
you want from a console?
Best of Show:
And the winner of E3 2013 is.... Electronic Arts and Sony. For
the first time ever we have a tie! Here's how everything breaks down.
Sony stole the show with the amazing PlayStation
4 console. The system is consumer friendly and it's being sold at a great price. This means it will have a large install base
and a bright future. Plus with its its solid internal design the console is a developers dream. This will guarantee a large and diverse game library for many years to come. However we
weren't truly blown away by the exclusive content for the PS4, while games like Infamous Second Son and Killzone both
looked great they were easily upstaged by other multiplatform titles on display at the show. So while Sony clearly won the
PR war and the hearts and minds of gamers, the prize for best content belongs to another company.
Electronic Arts had an incredible roster of outstanding titles,
many of which were the best of show for their respective categories. Titanfall was the surprise hit of E3, the futuristic
next gen shooter features giant armor mechs and jetpacks that bring a whole new level of gameplay to the FPS genre. Battlefield
4 wowed crowds with it's spectacular visuals and amazing 64 player online gameplay. Need For Speed Rivals was easily the best
racing game at the show. Madden NFL 25 looks to be the best entry in many years for the beloved NFL franchise. RPG fans hailed
the reveal of Dragon Age 3. On the mobile front EA revealed the highly anticipated sequel to Plants VS Zombies. The company
even teased a new Star Wars Battlefront game. EA literally had something for everyone. It's easy to see why they truly deserve
this best in show award.
BONUS: Best Freebie
For the fourth year in a row we stormed the floors of the
E3 Expo giving away our beautiful custom made arcade tokens. This promotion gets bigger and more crazy with each passing year!
These tokens are a celebration of video gaming. And they are made exclusively for the E3 Expo. We had a tremendously fun time
handing out these coins to our fellow attendees. Our very own Dr Gonzo was on the scene giving out coins to everyone he met
on the show floor. People always tell us this is a great way to promote our site, however we do it just because we like making
people happy. We graciously thank you all for making this give away such a tremendous success!
