It's the most WonderCon-ful time of the year. It’s time to get ready for WonderCon 2014! For the third consecutive year, the Anaheim Convention Center will be the hub for all things awesome. With a larger emphasis on comics there's so much to see and do so let's dive right and review some of the highlights.

Friday:

Friday starts off with a sneak preview of the new upcoming series Salem. Series regular Shane West will be on hand for the debut footage as well as a Q & A where one audience member will win a background role in a future episode. Warner Brothers television will be on hand with a 3 hour panel devoted to Teen Titans Go!, Revolution and the newest series The 100. The CW will present a look at their upcoming new drama Star Crossed. Several members of the cast are slated to attend.

Nintendo will be on hand to celebrate the release of Mario Kart 8. Be sure to stop by the Nintendo booth to try a playable demo of the game. Nintendo will also have several other new games for you to try at the show. See many of their upcoming games before the arrive in stores!

The R2 Builders club will be on hand to show you how to build your own Astromech Droid. With a new Star Wars movie due next year, now is a great time to learn how to build your own R2 unit with help from the experts. No time like the present! The folks from Geek Magazine return to Wonder Con for another look back at 1984, a seminal year in movies. Several films for discussion include Ghostbusters, Dune, Splash, Terminator, Night of the Comet, Red Dawn and several others. This has been my personal favorite event for the last two years.

If you are a fan of the digital series TableTop, then you won't want to miss Wil Wheaton and Felicia Day as they present the trailer for the upcoming season. Finally, one way to end the evening would be to take in the world premiere of Son of Batman, the latest DC Universe Animated Original movie.

Saturday:

Saturday starts with a trip back in time as Marty Pasko, Len Wein, and Marv Wolfman discuss the comics of the 1970's and what made them so different from our modern era.

Legendary Pictures hosting a Godzilla presentation at 11:00 am. Director Gareth Edwards will be on hand to sign the exclusive Godzilla WonderCon Poster! Not to be outdone, Twentieth Century Fox will immediately follow with their own presentation. While not official, word is the films discussed during the panel will include X-Men: Days of Future Past, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Maze Runner and How to Train Your Dragon 2.

Looking for a history lesson? Some of the legends of animation from Hanna Barbera will be on hand to share insight into the creation of old favorites such as Yogi Bear, The Flintstones and Scooby Doo. In other TV related news, one of the most anticipated shows for 2014 is the new Star Wars Rebels series debuting this fall. Members of the cast and crew will be on hand for a first look at the latest chapter in the Star Wars saga.

The man who brought us The Fifth Element and The Professional, director Luc Besson, will present exclusive new footage of his upcoming action film Lucy, starring Morgan Freeman and Scarlett Johansson. The first trailer just debuted last week and it looks like a slam bang thrill ride!

Ever wonder about early incarnations of some of your favorite film and TV shows? If so, you'll want to check out the panel on the greatest Sci-Fi movies and TV shows never made. Have you heard of Star Trek Phase II? Did you know Bryan Singer was working on a big screen Battlestar Galactica film before the most recent series even debuted? Have you even heard of David Lynch's Ronnie Rocket? This panel is sure to be an eye opener into the early stages of some old favorites. The evening ends with the 10th annual WonderCon masquerade.

Sunday:

Get your egg hunting done early Sunday morning then head on down for the last day. If you've ever dreamed of working in the comics industry, Marvel Comics will be hosting a special panel designed to provide information on how to get your career started. Several major players from Marvel will be on hand so get those questions ready!

Chris Hardwick returns with his ever popular Nerdist panel. Special guests and breaking news are the norm at this panel. Sure, Transformers gets all the attention these days but if you're a GoBots fan, then you won't want to miss the first look from Warner Archives as the series will soon make its debut on DVD. The voice of Leader1 himself will be present. The ever popular Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is a fun and interactive way to close out the day.

Comic fans will be excited to know there are many special guests scheduled to attend including Jim Lee, Sergio Aragones, Cliff Chiang, Mark Waid and Katie Cook, not to mention the usual amount of surprise guests. If you're looking for something unique, I cannot stress enough to visit Artist Alley. You just may discover a new favorite piece to hang on your wall or a new favorite small press comic. It never hurts to get a jump start on some holiday shopping as well!
